Please refer to our Code of Conduct first as this cover the core of our Club policies
Edinburgh United – Supplementary Policies
These policies are provided as an addendum to the existing Edinburgh United Code of Conduct, and apply only to the specific areas highlighted in the recent SFA Guidance.
1. Participation in Special Training Sessions
To ensure child safety and compliance with safeguarding requirements:
- Only parents who hold a valid PVG and are registered as Active on the SFA Comet system with Edinburgh United may participate in any special or additional training sessions.
- Parents without PVG clearance and not Active on Comet cannot assist, support, or be present in any capacity during these sessions.
- All participants will be communicated ahead of time to parents and carers.
2. Introduction of New Coaches or Parent Helpers
To maintain transparency and safeguarding standards:
- Only parents who have completed full PVG vetting and are registered as Active on the SFA Comet system will be introduced to other parents as coaches, assistant coaches, or parent helpers.
- Introductions will be made ahead of time, either in writing or at the first session where the individual is present.
- No individual will be permitted to support coaching activities until PVG clearance and Active status is confirmed on Comet.
3. Shirt Distribution Guidelines
To ensure fairness and consistency:
- Team shirts will be distributed strictly on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
- Parents and players cannot request specific shirt numbers.
- Replacement shirts will follow the same process and are subject to availability.
4. Club Exit Strategy
Edinburgh United aims to provide a stable, safe, and positive football environment. However, as a volunteer‑run club, certain constraints may require changes to age‑group capacity or player registration.
4.1 Reduction of Age Group Size
On occasion, due to a lack of available coaches:
- The club may need to reduce the size of an age group.
- We will provide as much notice as possible, but this may not always be feasible if a coach resigns unexpectedly.
- Where coach numbers fall below safe ratios, the club may need to pause or discontinue an age group until additional volunteers are sought.
4.2 Deregistration for Conduct Breaches
- Serious or repeated breaches of the Code of Conduct by either parents or players will result in removal and deregistration from the club.
- While notice will be provided where possible, volunteer coaches reserve the right to deregister a player without notice if behaviour poses a risk to the wellbeing or significant negative impact to the group or club.
4.3 Deregistration for Non‑Payment of Subs
- Players may be deregistered if subs are consistently unpaid.
- However, if a family is experiencing financial difficulty, the club will support confidentially to ensure no child misses out on football or kit.
- Parents are encouraged to speak privately with their coach, and all discussions will be treated with strict confidentiality.
